2021 NCAA-ARTS Conference

SEEING THROUGH THE NOISE

September 29 – October 2, 2021
Sarasota, FL

The 48th annual gathering is presented by the Ringling College of Art and Design and the National Council of Arts Administrators.

If you could draw noise, would you use charcoal or crayon? If noise was edible, would it be Michelin star or fairgrounds food? What might noise smell like? Sound like? Feel like?

What if we told you noise looks like news and Google searches, and endless scrolling on social platforms? It comes at us from all sides, in all shapes, and is rarely harmoniously structured. Plainly put, noise is information. There’s a mighty fine chance you agree wholeheartedly.

Our 2021 NCAA Arts Conference puts the spotlight on the complexities of the current state of how we send, share, receive, and absorb the cacophony of information we are bombarded with all day, every day. Our endeavor is to address how we, a group of educators and leaders looking to learn and grow, can be better informed so that we may help our students learn to sift through the sights and sounds that surround them while teaching them to thoughtfully share information outwardly.

Join us. Our compelling speakers and stimulating breakout sessions are worth their salt. The event is meant for sharing ideas, resources, and strategies that can elevate us above the discord and further allow us to teach our students to thoughtfully give and take information in a society that so thoughtlessly consumes and shares it.

We are truly delighted to host you and show you what our institution has to offer. Come for the conference, and while you’re here allow us to showcase our esteemed College campus and our amazing, contemporary Sarasota Art Museum. It will be a full spectrum of colors, words, thoughts, and flavors strung together to create a beautiful melody.
That’s it.
